Ithaca was awarded block 12/21c in the 23rd Licensing Round which contained the previously drilled 12/21-2 well. Ithaca and partners drilled the 12/21c-6 well in 2007 which encountered oil-bearing Beatrice sands, 175 feet above the oil in 12/21-2, as predicted.
The well established a 180 foot column of oil with 32 feet of net pay and defined the Jacky oilfield. The fluid pressures were found to be more than 200 psi higher than the pressures measured in 12/21-2, indicating support from the Beatrice water injection program and thus connection within the aquifer between Jacky and Beatrice.
A monotower production platform was installed over the well drilled in 2007 by Ithaca (12/21c-6) and tied to the Beatrice Alpha facility, providing the export route via a pipeline to the Nigg onshore terminal, also operated by Ithaca.
Jacky came on stream on April 6, 2009. Initial production was stabilised at rates in excess of 10,000 bopd.
The field has been developed with one production well and one water injector well.
