The Harrier discovery lies 10 km south of the Stella discovery, also in Block 30/6. The accumulation was discovered in 2004 by well 30/6-4 when gas/condensate was encountered in both the Ekofisk and Tor chalk reservoirs in a salt induced anticlinal closure. Appraisal sidetracks 30/6-4Z, 4Y and 4X were drilled immediately following the discovery to appraise, core and test the reservoirs. The 4X well achieved flow rates of 19 mmscfpd from the Tor reservoir and 5 mmscfpd from the Ekofisk. Wells to date have not encountered a hydrocarbon/water contact and well 4Y encountered hydrocarbons outside the mapped structural closure. As part of the Stella transaction in August 2008, Ithaca also purchased a 66.67 % interest in Harrier from Shell and Esso - all assets associated with Blocks 30/6 and 29/10NE were included in the transaction. Since this initial transaction, Ithaca has acquired the remaining equity from Maersk and successfully farmed out to Dyas such that, at the time of drilling the Stella appraisal well in early 2010, the company held a 68.33 % interest. At this stage, CMI entered into an agreement with Ithaca whereby they would carry Ithaca on 27 % of the appraisal well cost for an option to take 18 % interest in block 30/6a. CMI will further carry Ithaca (of the lesser of 9% of the well cost or GBP 2.6 M) on the next well drilled on either Harrier or Stella.
Following the successful appraisal of the Stella discovery, detailed planning for a joint development of Stella and Harrier through the sub-sea Greater Stella Area Hub (located at Stella) is underway with First Gas from Harrier planned for Q4 2012. In their April 2010 reserves audit, Sproule have assigned net 2P reserves of 11.69 mmboe to the Harrier discovery.
