Anasuria FPSO which producing oil from the Cook field

Anasuria FPSO

  • The Cook field is located in Block 21/20a of the Central North Sea approximately 175km east of Aberdeen and 20km north of the Gannet Cluster development.

  • The field was discovered in 1983 by well 21/20a-2 which was drilled in a down flank position on the Cook structure. The well encountered oil in the Fulmar Formation and tested 7,330 bopd of 40.6 API oil and 6.7 Mmscfpd of gas.

  • Oil is trapped in a single sandstone reservoir, with an oil/water contact defined in the discovery well, without a gas cap. The reservoir is highly over-pressured, with an initial reservoir pressure of 9,700psi and a bubble point of approximately 3,400psia.

  • The field was brought on stream in April 2000 following development drilling in 1999. Production from the field is from a single development well 21/20a-P1, drilled on the crest of the structure.

  • The development well is tied back to a subsea manifold and is produced through the Anasuria FPSO. Annual production rate for oil peaked in 2001 at a rate of 16,800 barrels of oil per day. Oil is exported by shuttle tanker while gas is exported to St Fergus via the SEGAL pipeline.

  • The single well behind the Cook development is regarded as one of the strongest and most efficient wells drilled in the UK sector of the North Sea
